avevo deciso di trascrivere questo pezzo suonato da due grandi tenoristi
vagando su youtube
trovo questa versione al tenore.

la ascolto e dico tra me me fortissimo questo sassofonista.

leggo i commenti ed il primo mi dice George Adams al sax.
cavolo, penso io ed io che lo ho sempre sottovalutato.
poi vado ad ascoltare il sassofonista ma non sono per nulla convinto.

e alcuni indicano John Handy o Booker Ervin
non conosco nessuno dei due (li conosco davvero pochissimo e penso tra me e me : cavolo quanto suona bene al tenore questo altista ).

infine trovo l'indicazione del sassofonista e baaaaaaaaaannnnnng doh!
era proprio quello che aveva causato la mia ricerca nello stesso brano ma con Brecker.

OT ...leggendo quello che si racconta del carattere di Mingus dubito che George Adams fosse un saxofonista mediocre, tenendo poi presente la sua successiva lunga militanza nell'orchestra di un altro genio e perfezionista come Gil Evans i dubbi sulla sua statura di musicista dovrebbero scomparire.

a prescindere da questo riascoltando mi sembra che Blake abbia preso alcune idee proprio dalla interpretazione di Brecker .
(che suona con lui nello stesso anno ).

di certo non lo definirei un sassofonista mediocre.
lo ho solo sottovalutato e non lo riconoscevo sia per fraseggio sia per il suono .
mi pareva impossibile che riuscisse a gestire il registro acuto i questa maniera , ed effettivamente come giustamente ha notato Koko si poteva capire che stava suonando un sassofonista contemporaneo.
è chiaro che stiamo parlando di musicisti comunque di altissimo profilo ed ha poco senso spiegare le proprie preferenze.
ad esempio Koko preferisce di gran lunga Adams a Blake io il contrario .
